Within a 30 minutes drive from the inn is another popular ski resort, the Catamount Ski Area, which boasts 36 trails, good for beginners or experienced skiers, 7 lifts, and breathtaking mountain views. Another nearby ski resort within 25 minute drive is Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, which offers 45 trails, 9 lifts, and state-of-the-art snowmaking and grooming equipment. All ski areas offer beginner classes for snowboarders and skiers, fun events, live music, holiday festivities, bars, restaurants & ski shops.
The Land Conservancy of Columbia County, about 12-min drive from the inn, Â has snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails at Ooms Conservation Area, which is free to the public.
Near-by Lake Taghkanic State Park, nestled next to Lake Taghkanic in the rolling hills and lush forests of Columbia County, offers a wonderful variety of recreational winter activities such as cross country skiing, ice skating, ice fishing, and a plenty of snowmobile trails. Schodack Island State Park, just south of Albany, offers 8-miles of multi-use trails and an ice skating rink during winter season.

For history buffs, there are also several museums, theaters and galleries in the area to explore. Check out the historic Crandell Theater on Chatham's Main street for any upcoming movie showings. The Hudson Opera House hosts a variety of cultural and educational events throughout the year. The Shaker Museum in Mount Lebanon showcases the history and culture of the Shaker community in the region.
