The Hudson Valley is renowned for its rich, agricultural heritage and vibrant farming communities. Here are six local farmers markets that you can explore near The Inn at Silver Maple Farm during your stay with us.

  1. Chatham Farmers Market

For an in-town option, this small local market is a charmer! Open Fridays seasonally, May - October.

  2. Kingston Farmers Market

This year-round market offers a diverse selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and baked goods, along with unique crafts from local artisans. We love the cultivated mushroom stall, wild caught Montauk fish, and the sour cream doughnuts!

  3. Rhinebeck Farmers Market

Every Sunday, this market showcases local farmers and producers, providing visitors with farm-fresh items and a friendly community atmosphere. Notable vendors vary from pickles to birdhouse gourds to local spirits.

  4. Woodstock Farm Festival

Known for its organic offerings, this market features local produce, gourmet foods, and a variety of prepared meals, perfect for a picnic in the nearby mountains. This is a special one due to its weekday time - our midweek guests love having the option to venture into the vibrant village of Woodstock for local fare and to pop by our sister hotel, Twin Gables of Woodstock.

  5. Hudson Farmers Market

Set in the historic city of Hudson, this market highlights local farms and food artisans, offering everything from fresh vegetables to handmade cheeses. This organized and year-long market (indoors in the colder months) offers vendors from flowers to cheese to bagels to exotic meats, so you are sure to find something beautiful or delicious!

  6. Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market

Last, but certainly not least, was voted as the #1 Farmers Market in all of Columbia County last year by readers of Rural Intelligence Magazine! In addition to some excellent permanent vendors, they offer a barn, hiking trails, a children's area, a dog park, picnic tables, and ample parking. It's less than half an hour away and you can make a Saturday of it!

The Berkshires region is also home to several fantastic farmers markets, perfect for going on a stroll to see local offerings. Here are five local markets to add to your itinerary:

  1. Great Barrington Farmers Market

This vibrant market features a wide array of local produce, meats, cheeses, and baked goods, along with live music and community events. Open on Saturdays in the Summer and Fall from 9am-1pm, this centrally located market in the beautiful town of Great Barrington is a good first top to exploring the nearby town.

  2. Lenox Farmers Market

Held every Friday, this market offers seasonal produce, flowers, and artisan products in a picturesque setting, ideal for a leisurely afternoon in a cute Berkshire town only a 20 min drive away!

  3. Lee Farmers Market

This charming market showcases local farms and artisans, providing a selection of fresh vegetables, fruits, and handmade crafts. They are open Saturdays in Summer and Fall, rain or shine, offering goods from elixirs to art.

  4. Stockbridge Farmers Market

Located in the historic town of Stockbridge, this market features local produce, dairy, and baked goods, along with a friendly community vibe. This is a guest favorite on Thursday afternoons!

  5. Pittsfield Farmers Market

This market offers a diverse selection of fresh produce, meats, and artisanal foods, making it a great stop for locals and visitors alike...but the coolest and most original aspect of this market is that it's run by teens! The Pittsfield Farmers Market is a program of Roots Rising, whose mission is to empower youth and build community through food and farming.

We acknowledge Silver Maple Farm was built upon Mohican (Mohhecconnuck) ancestral land.

As settlers on their indigenous homeland,  we have a duty to recognize the Mohican nation as the original stewards of East Chatham and beyond. It is our hope that this land acknowledgment will help empower First Nation voices and inspire others in the community to pursue a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable future for our country.

We seek to educate ourselves while contributing to the Mohican peoples by raising awareness and learning how to be a better ally against continued colonization.
