Set in the in a scape of gardens, forests, and waterfalls is the Ruins at Sassafras Farm. A museum of the property’s historic Shaker roots is on site, with tours and educational experiences available by reservation. Once a dairy farm, this property functions as both a thriving organic farm and a popular venture for weddings in the Upper Hudson Valley. When it comes to ceremony & reception location, this property offers up to seven unique spaces for event planning. Indoor Wedding Venue:


Built in 1847, the historic Shaker Chair Factory has been restored with love, highlighting it’s best features like the exposed wooden beams and wide window walls. This space is perfect for an indoor reception, complete with a stage, a designated dance floor, and a bar area. Holds up to 230 guests.

Outdoor Wedding Venues:

Nearby a babbling brook in the Sassafras Falls, The Ruins is a popular venue space that hosts up to 150 guests in a 200-year old barn. The ceremony and reception can be hosted here, with seated dining holding 100.

The Rose Dwelling offers a romantic gazebo for ceremony. Within the Rose Dwelling is the Smokehouse, which serves as a perfect bridal suite to prep for the big day. Within the suite is a full sized bed, standing shower, sink, and toilet.


Deere Pond Shores is the ceremony spot on the water, enveloped by lush forest and wildflowers. This location holds up to 230 guests.


The Tennis Lawn has a stellar view of both the Stone House Terrace and Chair Factory, with a natural wood Rustic Pergola overlooking the Berkshires & Tactonic Mountains. This outdoor venue holds up to 230 guests.


A Grass Quilt Garden honors the site’s historical roots, for the shaker women who sewed in the Sister’s Workshop. This outdoor space can host up to 100 for a ceremony, or act as a space for an outdoor lounge.


If you want an outdoor ceremony but want the rehearsal dinner inside, the historic barn ruins of the Shaker Chair Factory can also be reserved.

The Greenhouse Cidery is located at Chatham Berry Farm. This facility functions as a small-taproom that specialized in local brewed ciders, including a rotating selection of beers, wines, and spirits.


Best for smaller, more intimate weddings, this space is nestled in the hills of the Berkshires. The property has walking paths though the berry picking fields (perfect for wedding photoshoots) and is a dog-friendly venue. For events/wedding rentals, this property offers both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting).

Hilltop Orchards & Furnace Brook Winery

For those seeking a wedding under the wide, open sky, Hilltop Orchards provides an expansive venue. Set in the Berkshire Mountains is this historic farm, home to Furnace Brook Winery and Farm Store. This 200-achre property is perfect for a very large, tented outdoor wedding, or a more intimate, smaller wedding inside the refurbished barn (hosting up to 50 guests).


If you’re planning on renting a tent, plan to outsource because no tents are available through the venue. Come prepared, because there are no dressing rooms on site. The Venue offers rentals & equipment, so be sure to contact them to make sure everything’s in order for the big day.


The vast property sprawls across an apple orchard and various hiking/snow showing trails (dog + children friendly). At the top of the trailheads on property, you’ll reach a stunning overlook. On property there are Adirondack chairs for lounging aside the Normany Gazebo, and a cozy wood burning fireplace indoors.


This cold-pressed cider offers cider and wine tastings you can coordinate with your wedding reception. For regular visits, this property offers tours of the artisanal cidery and it’s on-site process. Freshly baked apple cider donuts & fruit pies are available daily in the Farm Store on site.
