We Tortured a Cucumber
Posted by: Silver Maple Farm
It’s true. But in a good way. Some of you may have noticed the tiny vegetable garden in front of my house. A couple of days ago I harvested two nice cucumbers – the first homegrown veg of the season. But what to do with them? Truth be told, cucumbers are not exactly my favorites. Contemplating my boring dinner of diced cucumber in olive oil, salt, and pepper, I headed over to the West Stockbridge farmers market for some fresh, local ingredients for the weekend menu. Lucky for me I had the good fortune of meeting Amanda of Tortured Orchard. She is a veritable goddess of gourmet condiments. Amanda suggested the Garlic Balsamic Drizzle for my poor cucumber, and gave me little tastes of each of her creations. They were all so delectable; however, I followed Amanda’s suggestion, and happily tortured, then devoured, my little cucumber. The West Stockbridge farmers market is open Thursdays - see you there!
